About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Focus The International Journal of Mathematics Pedagogy and Technology (IJMPT) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing the intersection of mathematical sciences, instructional methodologies, and digital innovations. The journal provides a global platform for researchers, educators, and policy-makers to publish high-quality empirical research, theoretical papers, and systematic reviews. IJMPT focuses on how pedagogical theories and didactic transformations can be synergized with cutting-edge technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, to enhance mathematics teaching and learning across all educational levels.

Scope To be considered for publication, manuscripts must strictly fall within the following core areas:

  • Mathematics Pedagogy and Didactics: Research on pedagogical frameworks, didactical phenomenology, instructional design, and the Theory of Didactical Situations (TDS) in mathematics. This includes studies on teacher Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), student mathematical reasoning, and innovative teaching models (e.g., Realistic Mathematics Education, Problem-Based Learning).

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Mathematics Education: The application and impact of AI-driven tools in mathematical instruction. This encompasses Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS), adaptive learning environments, generative AI for personalized math learning, automated assessment and feedback systems, and the ethical implications of AI in math education.

  • Digital Tools and Computational Thinking: The integration of dynamic geometry software (e.g., GeoGebra), computer algebra systems (CAS), augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), and coding/computational thinking in developing mathematical concepts and spatial abilities.

  • Socio-Cultural Contexts and Ethnomathematics: Studies exploring the didactic transposition of local wisdom and cultural artifacts into formal mathematics learning, highlighting how technology can bridge ethnomathematics with global educational standards. (Poin ini penting untuk mengakomodasi riset-riset kuat dari Indonesia).

  • Curriculum Development and Educational Policy: Evaluation of technology-integrated mathematics curricula, assessment of digital literacy in math teachers, and the impact of educational policies on the adoption of technology in math classrooms.
