Manuscript Types

Bulletin of Educational Management and Innovation (BEMI) accepts three types of manuscripts: Original Research Articles, Review Articles, and Case Study Articles. Each manuscript must correspond to one of these categories and follow the structure and requirements specified for the selected manuscript type.

i

Authors are required to select the appropriate manuscript type during submission and use the corresponding BEMI manuscript template. The manuscript type should reflect the research design, methodological approach, and primary purpose of the article.

The Editorial Team reserves the right to reclassify a manuscript when the selected type does not accurately represent the nature of the submitted work.

01
Manuscript Type

Original Research Article

An Original Research Article reports the results of original empirical research conducted by the authors. The study should present a clear research problem, appropriate research methodology, empirical findings, and a discussion that contributes to the development of knowledge and/or practice in educational management, educational leadership, learning, teaching, innovation, and related fields within the scope of BEMI.

Original Research Articles may employ quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods approaches, including survey research, experimental or quasi-experimental research, correlational research, evaluation research, action research, development research, and other appropriate empirical research designs.

Methodological requirements. The Methods section must provide sufficient information regarding the research design, participants or data sources, sampling procedures, research instruments or data collection techniques, data analysis procedures, and other methodological information necessary to assess the rigor and reproducibility of the study.

Authors are encouraged to follow relevant research reporting guidelines applicable to their research design.

02
Manuscript Type

Review Article

A Review Article presents a systematic, structured, and critical synthesis of previously published scholarly literature on a specific topic or research problem relevant to the scope of BEMI. A Review Article should provide more than a descriptive summary of previous studies; it should demonstrate a clear and appropriate process for identifying, selecting, analyzing, and synthesizing the relevant literature.

BEMI accepts different rigorous approaches to literature review, including Systematic Reviews, Scoping Reviews, Integrative Reviews, and other methodologically justified review approaches relevant to the journal's scope.

Recommended Article Structure

Title Abstract Keywords Introduction Review Methods Results / Findings Discussion Conclusion Implications / Recommendations Declarations References

Review methodology. The Review Methods section should clearly describe the review approach, information sources or databases, search strategy, search period, inclusion and exclusion criteria, screening and selection procedures, data extraction, quality appraisal or risk-of-bias assessment where applicable, and methods of analysis or synthesis.

PRISMA 2020
For Systematic Review manuscripts, authors are expected to follow PRISMA 2020 and provide an appropriate flow diagram and reporting information. Other review approaches should follow relevant methodological and reporting guidelines where available.

A manuscript that merely summarizes previously published studies without a clear and transparent review methodology will not normally be considered a Review Article.

03
Manuscript Type

Case Study Article

A Case Study Article reports empirical research that uses a case study research design to investigate a bounded case, phenomenon, organization, institution, program, process, or other defined unit of analysis in depth and within its real-world context.

A Case Study Article should provide an in-depth examination of the selected case and explain the contextual factors, evidence, processes, and findings associated with the case. The study should clearly establish the boundaries of the case, the rationale for case selection, the sources of evidence, data collection procedures, data analysis procedures, and strategies used to establish the credibility or trustworthiness of the findings.

Important Classification Note

A manuscript is not classified as a Case Study Article merely because the research is conducted in one school, university, organization, or institution. The classification is based on the research design and methodology employed by the authors.

For example, a quantitative survey conducted at a single school remains an Original Research Article when the study uses a survey research design. In contrast, a study that explicitly employs a case study methodology to investigate a bounded educational or organizational case in depth is classified as a Case Study Article.

Recommended Article Structure

Title Abstract Keywords Introduction Case Context and Description Methods Findings Discussion Conclusion Implications / Recommendations Declarations References

Case study methodology. The Methods section should clearly explain the case study design and approach, case selection, participants or informants, data sources, data collection procedures, data analysis, strategies for establishing credibility or trustworthiness, and ethical considerations where applicable.

Authors conducting qualitative case study research are encouraged to follow relevant qualitative research reporting guidelines, such as SRQR or COREQ, when applicable.

Important: Authors should select the manuscript type that most accurately reflects the research design and methodological characteristics of their submission. Manuscripts that do not follow the requirements of the selected manuscript type may be returned during the initial editorial screening.
